APC Urges Jonathan To Expose Kaduna Blast Perpetrators

apcThe All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, to speedily set up a high powered probe to unravel those behind the bomb blasts in Kaduna which has been suspected to be an attempt to take the life of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement by the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, stated that the retired Army General and former Head of State was on his way to his village, Daura, when a vehicle trailed him.

The party, while expressing their heartfelt condolences to those who lost their lives in the bomb blasts which claimed scores of lives in Kaduna, however, appealed to Buhari’s supporters to “remain calm, in the face of what seems obvious provocation”.

Advising that the incident must not be treated as one of the usual Boko Haram atrocities, the party claimed that “there seems to be more to the blast that meets the eye” and also restated its commitment to the fight against insurgency in the country.

“We want to reiterate once again, that because of the innocent lives being lost on daily basis, we committed our great party to full cooperation with the Jonathan administration in seeking solutions to the insurgency.”

The APC called on Jonathan to take the protection of Nigerian lives more seriously and to prudently utilize the huge amounts budgeted for security to upgrade the country’s security infrastructure.

They also advised the President to fully cooperate with the international community in order to crush the Boko Haram insurgency.

The party, however, expressed gratitude to God that General Buhari’s life was spared and three of his aides, who were injured in the incident, have been discharged after treatment.
